SODUS, N.Y., March 15, 2024—Reliant Credit Union continues its mission to help students in the Finger Lakes put their best feet forward!  Recently, Reliant donated 75 pairs of sneakers to The Children’s School of Rochester, to be given to given to students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade.

This marks the first donation this year for Reliant’s Feet Forward program, a special community effort Reliant created in 2016, through which the credit union partners with area schools and organizations to provide quality sneakers to kids who need them. For the fifth year in a row, Reliant is collaborating with Jonathan Griffiths, owner of Rochester Running Company, who helped facilitate the credit union’s purchase of an array of high-quality sneakers so that the credit union could donate them to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality footwear.

“Seeing the joy on the faces of the students as they sang to us during the morning assembly was a powerful reminder of the impact we can make in our local communities,” said Pamela Heald, Reliant’s President & CEO. “We’re honored to be able to contribute to their journey and look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in the lives of these bright young minds.”

Since Reliant started Feet Forward in 2016, the credit union has donated 2,209 pairs of sneakers—a total investment of over $64,000 to help local children.

Reliant and Rochester Running Company representatives presented the sneakers to representatives and students at The Children’s School of Rochester, including ISS Coordinator, Rob Johnson. “The Children’s School of Rochester is incredibly grateful for the support from Reliant and Rochester Running Co. Both organizations swiftly responded to our call, generously providing sneakers for our students,” said Mr. Johnson. “Their kindness has significantly impacted students and their families, bringing smiles, and for many, much-needed relief.  We extend our heartfelt thanks for their outstanding citizenship and support. It takes a community!”
