How does Reliant Community Federal Credit Union (Reliant) protect my personal information?

To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

Our employees are trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy.

How does Reliant collect my personal information?

We collect your personal information, for example, when you:

  • Open an account or deposit money
  • Apply for a loan or pay your bills
  • Use your credit card or debit card

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit:

  • Sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes – information about your credit worthiness
  • Affiliates from using your information to market to you
  • Sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

Definitions

Affiliates
Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

Our affiliates include financial companies such as PSCU Financial Services and Alloya Corporate Federal Credit Union.

Nonaffiliates
Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.
Reliant does not share with nonaffiliates so they can market to you.

Joint Marketing
A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.
Our joint marketing partners include insurance companies and marketing support companies.

What does Reliant do with your personal information?

Online Privacy Practices

Reliant recognizes the importance of maintaining a presence on the Internet for informational and e-commerce purposes in both attracting new members and retaining existing members. For the purpose of this statement, online activity is defined as the ability of members to access personal account information and general credit union information, to initiate transactions on your credit union accounts, and to apply for additional credit union products and services online by use of its website and/or app. Our privacy policy is the same whether you are online or not.

Information We Collect

When you visit Reliant’s website, we may collect certain types of information on how a visitor navigates through the site and areas in which they show interest. We may also gather information such as number of visits to the site, page visits, and length of user sessions.  We may also collect technical information regarding your computer or mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) and operating systems, such as your Internet protocol address, domain name and system configuration and settings.  We use this information to better serve you and it helps keep our site relevant and useful by helping us understand what information users want.

Secure Transmissions

To ensure information remains confidential, Reliant uses encryption technology such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to protect information you enter and submit from our website.

Email Security

Regular Internet email is not secure.  You should never provide information that is sensitive or confidential such as your social security number, account number, or PIN through unsecured email.  We ask that you do not send personal or account information through regular email.  Reliant provides a method for sending a secure email to the credit union which can be accessed by selecting the “Contact” tab on our website.

Our Use of Cookies

Reliant’s website uses a variety of cookies. Cookies are small plain text files sent by a website to a visitor’s device where they are stored in browser directories for varying lengths of time. Cookies and similar files created or used by Reliant do not contain or capture unencrypted personally identifiable information.  Disabling cookies may prevent users from accessing some of the features on our websites as they may be necessary to certain functionality.

Mobile Privacy Practices

We may collect information regarding your mobile device such as device settings, unique device identifiers, information about your location, and analytical information that may assist with diagnostics and performance. For your convenience, you may be asked to grant permission for access to your mobile device’s geolocation data. This information may be collected when you use certain services that are dependent on your mobile device’s location.  Geolocation information can be monitored on a continuous basis in the background only while Reliant’s app is being used or not at all, depending on your selection. You can change your location permissions at any time in your device settings. Reliant shall only use the background location information to provide features beneficial to you and relevant to the function of its app. Reliant seeks from users of its app the minimum scope necessary to provide the current feature or service of its app.
