SODUS, N.Y., January 25, 2022—Reliant Credit Union continues its mission to help students in the Finger Lakes put their best feet forward! In November, Reliant donated 79 pairs of sneakers to North Rose-Wolcott Elementary School, and in December, donated 70 pairs of sneakers to Sodus Elementary School.

These donations are all part of a special community effort Reliant created called Feet Forward, through which the credit union partners with area schools and organizations to provide quality sneakers to kids who need them. This year, Reliant collaborated with Jonathan Griffiths, owner of Rochester Running Company, who helped facilitate the credit union’s purchase of an array of high-quality sneakers so that the credit union could donate them to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality footwear.

“Reliant is proud to continue our Feet Forward program for the fifth year in a row,” said Pamela Heald, Reliant’s President & CEO. “Physical and mental wellness are so important, especially right now, and we’re glad to be able to do our part to help. Each pair of sneakers we donate is a step forward for a child who will lead and shape our future.”

Since Reliant started Feet Forward in 2017, the credit union has donated 1,564 pairs of sneakers—a total investment of $41,600 to help local children. Reliant and Rochester Running Company representatives presented the sneakers to representatives from the elementary schools, including North Rose-Wolcott Elementary School Principal, Christie Graves. “We are so grateful for the generosity and community partnership with Reliant Credit Union,” said Ms. Graves. “The donation of over 70 pairs of brand-new shoes for our elementary students comes at a time that allows us to continue to support the physical and emotional well-being of our families.”

Sodus Elementary School Principal, Mike Sereno, said, “We greatly appreciate the generosity of Reliant and the Rochester Running Company over the past several years. The students at Sodus Elementary will definitely benefit from this wonderful donation.”

Reliant Credit Union, which began locally in 1970, is a $635 million credit union serving more than 40,000 members.
