SODUS, N.Y., March 27, 2024—Reliant Credit Union is committed to helping community members build financial skills with free financial education workshops and presentations, hosted throughout the year at the credit union or on-location at schools and community organizations. The credit union is committed to providing accessible resources and knowledge to help community members achieve their financial goals.

The next free financial education workshop offered by the credit union will be especially for teens, and will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 11am–12pm, at the credit union’s Webster branch, located at 870 Holt Rd.  The workshop will be hosted by Reliant’s Member Development Coordinator, Karen Hoad, and will cover savings, checking and budgeting. Attendees will learn savings ideas and strategies to build a simple budget, how to use a checking account, and differences between needs and wants.

“Financial literacy is a critical skill that empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their finances, leading to greater financial stability and security,” said Ms. Hoad. “At Reliant, we recognize the importance of equipping our community members with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve their financial aspirations. Through our free financial education workshops and presentations, we aim to provide valuable resources and support to help individuals build a brighter financial future.”

In 2023, Reliant conducted 179 financial education workshops, attended by more than 1,990 students and community members. The workshops are facilitated by knowledgeable financial experts from Reliant, who are dedicated to delivering engaging and informative sessions that address the specific needs and concerns of participants.

In addition to the workshops, Reliant also offers a variety of online resources, tools, and one-on-one financial checkups to further support members on their financial journey.
